Mangalore, Feb 7: A man visibly distressed by the untimely death of his wife ended his life stabbing himself at Kandavara-Paddayipadav near Gurpur here on Tuesday February 6 evening.

The deceased couple has been identified as Jayanthi (48) and her husband Babu (50), residents of Kandavara-Paddayipadav.  The bizarre incident took place on Tuesday evening.  Jayanthi who was suffering from cardiac problems died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday.

Distressed and saddened by this her husband Babu stabbed himself on chest and stomach.  Owing to this he sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Wenlock Hospital immediately.  However, he succumbed to the injuries in the hospital later, said sources.

It is said that nothing is yet known about their family, especially about children.  It is assumed that the couple was living by themselves and the sudden death of his wife might have pushed Babu into despair.  Owing to this he too decided to end his life.
