Udupi, Mar 12: A photographer who had ordered an expensive camera from an online shopping store received a rude shock when, on opening the package, found a stone instead of a camera inside!
Sharath Kumar, a photographer from Malpe, alleged that he was cheated by Flipkart online shopping site, from where he had purchased the camera.
Sharath had ordered a Canon EOS 60D DSLR camera worth Rs 50,990 with 18-55mm IS II lens and 8 GB memory card on February 28, but when he received the parcel on Thursday March 12 morning, he found a stone inside the box instead of the camera. The weight of the stone is almost the same as that of the camera. By the time he opened the parcel, the courier agent had already left the place. He also said that the full amount of Rs 50,990 was debited from his bank account while placing the order.
Meanwhile, as the news spread, the Flipkart personnel in Udupi treated the incident as a special case and returned the full amount to Sharath the same evening. Sharath said that the personnel told him that it was logistics problem as the shopping portal does not keep stock of products. He said he has no idea how such a thing could happen with a website that has such elaborate tracking system.
Sharath had ordered the camera as he is planning to launch a new studio in Malpe. As Flipkart has returned the full amount, he has decided not to file any complaint.
