Bring Prabha's killer to justice: Family to Australian authorities

Melbourne, Mar 12 (PTI): Husband and brother of 41-year-old Bantwal-origin Prabha Arun Kumar, who was stabbed to death in Sydney, today made an emotional appeal to Australian authorities to find her killer and bring him to justice.

Speaking to reporters in Sydney, the victim's husband Arun Kumar said, "My wife was the most caring and beautiful soul".

Arun had flown in from India following the brutal murder of his wife, who was an IT professional.

He pleaded for justice and said "I know that we can't bring her back but I want, whoever killed my wife, to be brought to justice."

"I'm her husband and father of a young girl, who has lost a beloved mother," he said, and also appealed to people to help find the culprit, if they have any information on him.
Meanwhile, detectives are still searching for the killer and trying to establish a motive in the attack.

They said that it does not appear that Prabha was sexually assaulted or robbed or racially attacked.

Prabha's brother, Shankar Shetty also made a personal appeal to his sister's killer to surrender.

"You have taken my sister's life, please step forward and get help and get your life back," he said.

"Nobody deserved to have anyone from their family taken away from them in these horrific circumstances," he said, adding, "the pain I have felt since (her death) has been unimaginable."

Police have interviewed several witnesses since the attack on her in a park in Sydney on Saturday.

Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Michael Willing said, "I can say at this point in time, we are no closer to identifying a motive for this senseless attack," he said.

Willing said from CCTV footage police had reviewed, they don't think they can identify anyone who was following Prabha.

Police have also released the CCTV footage of Prabha walking from the Parramatta train station just before she was fatally stabbed and appealed to people for information to crack the baffling case.

I am surprised that there are so many unwanted comments about the family. Let the Indian government put pressure on the Australian government and the police to apprehend the killer as soon as possible and give justice to the deceased Prabha and her family. That is the priority eight now.

You have to understand in these countries, a job will get "work visa" for the person, but not one's spouse, where the spouse cannot work, although spouse can be with the Work Visa holder.

Due homage to the departed soul! what a tragedy. Sometimes life is alone. Either wife or husband cannot be together as modern world both are working couples. Also all are not lucky to work and live together. So this is the great sacrifice she was doing for the good of the family and to cherish her dreams in life. But she took the dreams with her carried and departed for good in heaven with this tragedy.May the departed soul rest in peace and God may give the strength to the family to bear this great loss.

Did you know what was the reason for not living together ? Please let us not get into their personal life.
Love does not mean living together Even if spouse living together person can be killed and even if person living together her spouse may not be loved and cared.

My sympathies to the family and may her soul rest in peace. I do not appreciate husband's comments which is inappropriate. If the wife is so caring he should have cared her too, instead of leaving her all alone in Australia. No use of repenting or blaming anyone.

If you blame Australia, someone should blame India where Australians were murdered. For sure the culprits should be punished either India or Australia.

I dont think we should be commenting on the husband's outburst. Not everybody is lucky to work and live together. In this modern world there a lot of people who are forced to work and live apart. So I dont think it is fair to be critical of him, especially at this juncture.

I do understand that the husband stayed behind, so that daughter might continue education in India, where as in Australia it is different type of education, which was not worthwhile for 2 years job contract/assignment.

With due respect to the departed soul, shouldn't Arun have been with her physically than over the phone so that we could have avoided making a little angel motherless today ? Public sympathy will be always there, even without pleading.

This is nothing but a Jacintha Saldhanha episode repeated.

    Madam,
Is it feasible to live both husband and wife together in all cases?
For better career prospect or for better future/livelihood, sometimes husband & wife has to sacrifice & stay away. We can't consider every human beings situation same.

May Prabha's departed soul Rest in Peace & her family get justice.

Jacinta Saldanha was not murdered but she was driven towards Suicide by Australian Radio Jockey. But in this case of Prabha it is a clear case of Murder.
