Mangaluru, Mar 11: The much-awaited Tulu film 'Soombe', directed by Saikrishna Kudla, produced by Kishor Kottari and Shwetha K Kottari under the banner Sri Yajnadhya Productions is set to release simultaneously in Mangaluru and Udupi on Friday March 13.
This was announced at a press meet at Cinepolis in City Center Mall here on Wednesday March 11.
Addressing the gathering, director Saikrishna Kudla said, "The first show of 'Soombe' movie will be screened on March 13 at Jyothi theatre. It is a complete comedy and romance movie and an experiment. I believe people will accept this movie. There is another film inside this film.
"The screenplay of this film is the first of its kind - in no other Tulu film has this kind of screenplay been made. The movie has been made at a cost of Rs one crore,” he added.
To a question on why the release has been delayed, Saikrishna said, "I did not want to get into competition with other Tulu movies. The Tulu film industry is very small and nobody wants to spoil a film, and if the film makes good collection it would make all of us happy."
Producer Kishore Kottari said that the movie is of two-and-a-half hours and full of entertainment.
Addressing the media, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor said that the movie has a great combination of artistes from Mumbai, Bengaluru and Mangaluru.
Lead actor of the movie Rahul thanked the producers for their support and the director for believing in him. "This movie is like an expansion of Tulu language. The good news is that the movie will spread to Bengaluru and Mumbai also because artistes of various film industries are involved in the movie," he said.
Ashwith Kottari welcomed the guests and proposed the vote of thanks.
'Soombe' will be released in 12 theatres - In Mangaluru it will be screened at Jyothi theatre, PVR, Cinepolis and Big Cinemas; In Karkala at Radhika theatre and Planet theatres, and also in theatres in Udupi, BC Road, Puttur, Manipal, Moodbidri and Beltangady.
Producer Shwetha, music director Edberg Dilone, Prasanna Shetty Bailuru and others were present.
