Mangaluru, Mar 11: In connection with the complaint of theft that had been filed by a person from Ramanagara, Halengady a couple of days ago, Mulky police have arrested the accused. They also recovered the lost gold ornaments from his possession. The theft was allegedly committed by a friend of the complainant, it is gathered.
Dan Fernandes from Halengaday had locked his home for going to Uchchila on Saturday to attend the marriage function of a relative. He said in his complaint that when he returned home at about 2 am the same night, he found that his friend, Naveen, had gained entry into the house by breaking open the front door. He also alleged that Naveen rushed out immediately upon seeing that the house owner had come back.
On conducting a detailed scrutiny, Fernandes found that a number of gold ornaments weighing about 214 grams and valued at over four lac rupees had gone missing from his home.
Upon being produced in the court, the theft-accused was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
The arrest operation was guided by city police commissioner, Murugan, deputy commissioners, Santosh Babu and Vishnuvardhan. Panambur assistant commissioner of police, Ravikumar, Mulky police inspector, Ramachandra Nayak, and assistant sub-inspector, Vaman Salian had coordinated the operation.
