Bantwal, Mar 10: "Urban development authority is not an institution which only gives permissions and approvals. There should be more awareness on this. Under the efficient leadership of Pius Rodrigues as the chairman of Bantwal Urban Development Authority (BUDA), special people-friendly developmental works will be taken up," said district incharge minister Ramanath Rai.
Rai was speaking at the ceremony where Pius Rodrigues took charge as the new chairman of BUDA at Bantwal municipal building. Rai congratulated Pius and also said that BUDA will prosper under Pius’ active participation.
Pius is also the general secretary of Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee.
Pius Rodrigues who spoke after taking charge said, "BUDA will have a special blueprint for the development of Bantwal. We want to make this a model town, and to achieve this, we will provide transparent administration and involve people. So we welcome suggestions from the general public. I will discharge my duties with utmost honesty and do justice to the faith the party has kept in me."
He further said, "I did not expect to get this post. District incharge minister has kept immense trust in me in choosing me for this position. I will do justice to this new role. I will discuss the traffic problem with the minister. I will address public misconceptions and apprehensions related to urban development after consultation with urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
"Better traffic flow on the highway, comprehensive drainage policy and scientific waste management will be given top priority," Pius added.
