DJ arrested for drug peddling at Assagao

Panaji, March 9 (GC): The narcotic control bureau (NCB), Goa, has arrested a disc jockey (DJ), who allegedly engages minors to push drugs in the market, and seized narcotic substances worth over 6 lakh from his possession. The bureau also arrested the two minors in the case, who were admitted to Apna Ghar, the state-run children's protection home at Merces.

Speaking to TOI, SP Jeetendra Ranjan of the NCB said that DJ Vicky Fernandes, 23, was arrested at Assagao, near the church, along with two minors. Ranjan revealed that they recovered 200 LSD papers weighing 5.10g on conducting a physical search of the accused. He added that no drugs were found in possession of the two minors arrested by the NCB.

Ranjan said that they received a tip off that Fernandes, along with the two minors, was supposed to come to Assagao to strike a drug deal with a prospective customer. And, as soon as he arrived at the Assagao church gate with his accomplices, NCB sleuths arrested them.

Fernandes operates at a top nightclub in Goa and his modus operandi is to engage minors to search customers for him, Ranjan said. He added that once the minors had procured a customer, Fernandes would take over and pay his accomplices a commission of anything between 5,000 to 25,000.

The accused was produced before the judicial magistrate first class, Mapusa, and
was remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
