Kundapur, Feb 5: Don Bosco Tech, Trasi celebrated its founder's day on recently. To mark this event, the institution organized several events for the school kids as well as the youth of the locality.

A one-day 20 yard cricket tournament was organized for the youth of the locality. A total of 16 teams from in and around Trasi participated in a spirit of true sportsmanship. The tourney was inaugurated by M Thimmaraju, sub-inspector and in-charge of Gangolli police station. 

 

 

Joys and disappointments, laughter and tears marked the day as teams toiled to win the honors of championship.  At the end of the day it was Sneha Team who emerged the unbeatable champions of the Don Bosco Trophy. 

Trophies and cash prizes were also awarded to the First and Second Runners Up of the tournament - Star A from Movadi and Deeksha from Arrate. 

 

 

Individual prizes for outstanding sportsmanship at the tournament were awarded to Subash of Sneha (Man of the Series), Subramanya of Sneha (Man of the Match), Ragavendra of Sneha (Best Fielder), Shivanand (Best Batsmen) and Ragavendra of Deeksha (Best Bowler).

On the evening of Jan 30, an interschool folk dance competition was organized. The chief guest Sr Marie Christine, head mistress of St Joseph's Primary School, Gangolli inaugurated the event.

 

 

Fr Kinley D'Cruz, director- principal, Fr Francis Xavier, Vice Principal and Fr Peter Pinto, Administrator were present.

Of the 25 schools that were invited 12 primary and 10 high schools responded. Vibrant colored costumes, soulful singing and dancing set the tone for an evening of joyful healthy competition. 

The Government Secondary School, Byndoor School was adjudged the winners in the senior category and the District Higher Primary School, Marvanthe were adjudged the winners in the junior category.  Trophies and cash prizes were also awarded to the first and second Runners Up of the competition.

On Jan 31 the feast St John Bosco was celebrated. The day began with the solemn Eucharistic Celebration.  Fr Vincent the main celebrant together with the parish priests of the Kundapur Varado, religious priests, sisters, students of the institution, guests and well-wishers solemnized setting the tone for a grand celebration. 
The annual Tech Day was held in the evening and was inaugurated by the president of the function Vinaykumar Sorake, former Udupi MP.

 

 

Chief guest Fr Anthony Lobo, dean, Kundapur Varado and recipient of Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award and guests of honor Sharado Bijoor, Vice-President, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi, Anantha Movadi, Vice-President, Taluk Panchayat, Kundapur, Richard Almeida, member Gram Panchayat, Trasi and Raju Devadiga, member, Taluk Panchayat, Kundapur, Fr Kinley D'Cruz, Fr Francis Xavier and Fr Peter Pinto were present on the occasion.

Trophies and cash prizes were awarded to the winner and runners up of the Cricket Tourney and the inter school folk dance competition. Certificates of merit and shields were awarded to the deserving students of the institution for excellence in studies, sports and co-curricular activities.

Besides this a comedy play by the famous Muru Muthu Group, Kundapur ‘Rama Krishna Govinda’ was staged.  The students participated in the evening cultural programme with the variety entertainment items.
