Bangalore, Feb 4: Lioness Council held Lioness meet on February 3, 2007 at the United Theological College, Millers Road, Bangalore with magnanimous services to the needy under the leadership of C K Krishnamurthy, District Chairperson and Associate Chairperson, Naveen Sridhar.
The programme began with welcoming the guests with school band and Thalam by the children of Maxwell School under the guidance of Ushakumari, followed by dance by Mriduala Rao. A power point presentation by Dr Sadhna, under the theme ‘Beautiful
Flowers in the bouquet of Lionism’ was also organized.
C K Krishnamurthy MJF delivered the welcome address, stating that all the Lioness clubs are trying their best to conduct various services with compassion and commitment.
Naveen presented the report of the Council. She expressed her happiness that the total services conducted so far by the Council had exceeded Rs 15 lac with 1027 IOL eye surgeries and 1572 units of blood collected.
The highlight of the service activities conducted are Rs 30,000 donated to Lions West Eye Hospital for eye camps, distribution of 11 artificial limbs to Mahaveer Jain Hospital, 50 walking sticks to school for the blind, wheel chair to Taj, donation of Rs 25,000 to construct a classroom in Prestology School, Rs.20,000 to an old age home, Rs 10,000/ to Ashwini Charitable Trust, 3 gas stoves to Anganwadi school at Dodbelapur, heavy duty vehicle driving licence to Basavayya from Devaahalli and distribution of 28 sewing machines to needy and poor women.
Chief Guest of the programme District Governor Krishna Reddy MJF praised the Lioness Council for their leadership and guidance.
Guest of Honour Dona Fernandes, secretary of Vimochana organization delivered an eye opener talk to all the Lionesses.
Gordon Lazenby from U K, Past District Governor 105C (1992-93) surprised the gathering with his appearance. He was on a visit to India for two weeks.
