Mangalore, Feb 1: After the successful No Confidence Motion (NCM) tabled against ZP president Mamatha Gatti which dethroned her from her post, it was the turn of the ZP vice-president Dharanendra Kumar.
On Thursday February 1, Kumar faced the No Confidence Motion mooted by the ruling BJP-JDS members in the meeting hall of Zilla Panchayat here on Thursday.
A total of 18 member (15 BJP and 3 JDS), tabled the No Confidence Motion against Kumar thereby ending his turn as the ZP Vice-President.
During the two and a half hour long drama that unfurled, the Congress members wanted to know the reason behind the mooting of the No Confidence Motion. Most Congress members expressed disappointment over the fact that No Confidence Motion was mooted against Kumar who has had a clean track record.
Zilla Panchayat president Sushma Janardan asked the members to express their votes to the No Confidence Motion. With 18 members voting for the No Confidence Motion, the motion was accepted.
Congress members however staged a protest against the proceedings.
Later Kumar who had to step down from his post spoke to reporters and termed it as a ‘brutal murder of democracy’.
