Mangaluru, Mar 3: In a case that has come to light with some delay, a Russian citizen who suffered from paralytic stroke when travelling by an Air India flight mid air, was saved by an alert and considerate pilot of Air India flight. The flight made an emergency landing at the airport here last Tuesday February 24 for providing medical attention to the said passenger.
The Air India flight, which was moving to Mumbai from Thiruvananthapuram, made unscheduled landing here, as a Russian passenger named Artur Izotov (47), developed complications. It is gathered that the passenger has since been discharged and gone ahead with his future plans.
Air India has of late been in the news often for wrong reasons including delayed flights, seat allotment complications, rude behaviour with passengers, etc. The above incident however, has been a refreshing change from this routine.
The said flight landed here at 2.02 pm because of the seriousness of the passenger's condition, it is learnt. The flight resumed its onward journey after about 30 minutes.
An ambulance was kept ready beforehand, and the patient was immediately examined before being taken to a private hospital in the city. Because of timely care provided, the passengere showed good progress, and was fit the next day. The doctors opined that any delay in providing treatment would have complicated his condition. He had planned Goa tour. Therefore, he left to Goa by train after being discharged from the hospital, it is gathered.
