Youth Cong want Dayesh, Gautam suspension revoked

Margao, Mar 2 (HERALD): A storm is brewing in the Youth Congress with a number of executive committee members and block presidents threatening to quit the organisation if the party leadership fails to revoke the suspension of South Goa youth Congress chief Dayesh Naik and GPYC general secretary Gautam Bhagat within a week’s time.

After the Youth Congress members called on GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro accompanied by Quepem MLA Babu Kavlekar at his Borda residence on Sunday evening, Faleiro told the media that the suspensions would be withdrawn after investigations by his office in coordination with the National Youth Congress. In fact, Faleiro went a step further and said that suspended Dayesh is the pride of the Congress given his status as the Chairperson of Quepem Municipal Chairperson and having been arrested by the BJP government on the eve of the 2014 Lok Sabha poll.

“I have already contacted the AICC general secretary in charge of the Youth Congress, who has feigned ignorance on the suspension. We will try to investigate the circumstances leading to the suspension of both Dayesh and Gautam and get the orders withdrawn,” Faleiro told the youth Congress leaders, while making a plea to them to withdraw their letter.

In a signed representation made to the GPCC President, the youth Congress workers said both Bhagat and Dayesh have been suspended on the basis of baseless representation made by acting President Xavier Fiahlo. They suspected efforts to target Gautam and Dayesh so that the duo leave the organisation after selflessly serving the party for several years.

“Both Gautam and Dayesh are associated with the party right from the NSUI days and have been suspended giving vague and baseless findings. They duo have been removed on grounds they were not present for some occasion since the office bearers were not properly informed about the meeting,” they said, adding that while the duo were pulled up by the leadership, Gauri Shirodkar, who could not attend some meetings, was left scot free.

Quepem MLA Babu Kavlekar has expressed his unhappiness to the PCC chief over the manner in which both Dayesh Naik and Gautam Bhagat were suspended by the party. He has requested Faleiro to use his good offices to get the suspension revoked before the situation takes a turn for the worse.
