Doha: MCC to present twin Konkani plays on April 17

Doha, Mar 1: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar in its effort to promote Konkani language and culture, will present two Konkani dramas on April 17 (Friday) at 5 pm at the Al Ghazal Club as part of its mega annual cultural programme.

The much-acclaimed Konkani comedy plays 'Platform No 3' and 'Neemane 30 Dees' are written by Arun Raj Rodrigues and will be directed by Christopher D’Souza of Neenasam.

The plays will be performed by Kalakul, Konkani’s lone professional repertory (troupe) run by Mandd Sobhann of Mangaluru. Talented and renowned artistes are sure to mesmerize the audience with their electrifying performances on the stage for nearly three hours.

As Konkani plays are playing a major comeback in modern times and sensing the pulse of the people and their eagerness to watch quality Konkani plays, Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), has taken a bold step to entertain Konkani theatre loving people of Qatar by staging these twin plays.

'Platform No 3' has been staged 15 times in the past while 'Neemane 30 Dees', a new play has been presented 3 times. Both plays received high acclaim from all over when they were staged earlier. The twin plays will definitely capture the hearts of Konkani theatre lovers and MCC is confident that it will be appreciated for this step towards promoting Konkani language and theatre.
