AAP condemns VHP’s ghar wapsi plans in Goa

Panaji, Mar 1 (TNN): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday condemned VHP's statement on ghar wapsi. Valmiki Naik, ad-hoc secretary, AAP Goa, said that the party condemns any attempt to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of Goa. He also reminded the BJP-led government of Goa that it is the government of every Goan, regardless of religious or political affiliations, and therefore needs to keep a close watch on radical elements in the state.

Naik welcomed chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar's reported reaction to the ghar wapsi statement and exhorted him to follow up with action.

The government must explicitly instruct the Goa police to take strict and immediate action against any attempts of force or coercion, as well as any misuse of government machinery or even tacit support by government personnel sympathetic to such ideologies.

Naik said that it is ironic that the VHP chose to announce their ghar wapsi programme in Goa on the same day as Prime minister Narendra Modi asserted in Parliament that his government has no other agenda than the welfare of all citizens.
