Mangaluru, Feb 27: The White Doves will be staging a mega play titled 'Antyadinda Aaramba' on Sunday March 15 at the Padua High School grounds here at 5.45 pm. The Kannada play in song and act on the life and victory of Jesus Christ will be a good way to mark the season of Lent.
The play has been written by Bannu Fernandes and will be directed by Corrine Rasquinha, founder of White Doves NGO. Over 125 actors of all age groups and from all walks of life will perform in the play. The programme will be staged free of cost for the public, as the play will be sponsored by various donors.
This play will be also be a fund raiser for the new White Doves project of building a 200 bed Psychiatric Nursing Home for the Destitute at Maroli in Mangaluru. Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, who has been a great supporter of the White Doves and has appreciated the work done by the NGO in various fields with much love, commitment and zeal since 18 years, has come forward to help White Doves continue their work by donating 49 cents of land at Maroli.
Though this is a big project running into a couple of crores, the president Corrine Rasquinha says, "We have always trusted in our God who is rich and He has always provided for the needs of White Doves through large-hearted, generous people. The paper work is going on and the foundation for the building of ground plus two will commence by March end. We remain grateful and thankful to God Almighty who makes all things possible."
White Doves presently runs two homes for the destitute with 120 inmates picked up from the streets of Mangaluru irrespective of caste, creed or religion. It feeds over 100 hungry mouths every day near the railway station.
