Mumbai, Feb 26: Singer Kanika Kapoor's whose melodious voice fills homes and cars with 'Baby Doll', 'Lovely', says she doesn't wish to be stereotyped and would therefore like to sing songs from various genres.
She also said that she had planned on entering the industry by way of commercial songs because they are many and it would be much easier to get a foothold in the industry. She seems to have accomplished her goal as her latest song 'Chittiyaan Kallaiyaan' starring Jacqueline Fernandez is heard waltzing out of many a mobile phone across the country.
Born in Lucknow, UP, Kanika started learning music from Pandit Ganesh Prasad Mishra of the Benaras Gharana at the tender age of twelve. She released her song 'Jugni Ji' featuring Dr Zeus in 2012 which went on to become the most popular singles of the year.
She followed that up with Baby Doll song with Meet Bros for the movie Ragini MMS which again resonated from every nook and corner of the country overnight. Her next songs all set to once again rule the music systems is 'Desi Look' from 'Ek Paheli Leela' and 'Chhil gaye naina' from Anushka Sharma's upcoming movie NH10.
