Mangalore, Jan 27: Kannada Development Authority (KDA) former president B M Idinabba was felicitated by MLC Blasius D’Souza on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations here on Friday January 26.

The programme was jointly organised by the district administration, Department of Public Instruction, Kannada and Culture Department and district Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

Idinabba inaugurated the poets’ meet on the occasion, in which poets of six different languages participated. The programme was presided over by Ramesh Kedlaya.

Poets KT Manjunath Sagar, Muddu Mudubele, Dr S P Vidya Kumar, Jaleel Mukri, Indira Jodunath and M C Jiljil Kasargod recited their poems.

Cultural programmes were also held on the occasion, which were inaugurated by renowned dance artiste Vittal. The police band also performed on the occasion.

Among those present were district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, former state Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Harikrishna Punaroor, state Beary Sahitya Parishat president M P Abdul Rehman, Kannada and Culture Department assistant director H C Rangappa and others.
