Margao, Jan 27: Thirty four cancer-affected children are down in Goa with their parents and officials of The Tata Memorial Centre on tour. They will leave Goa on Sunday evening by Konkan Kanya Express.

“Though I am affected with the cancer, I do not take the tension. I want to live my life happily. If I go on to think about my disease, Will I be able to live a good life? questioned a 12-years-old Mohammad, a cancer affected child.

The Tata Memorial Centre has conducted the trip for these children this time in Goa, with an endeavour to cheer them up and to show them the different places of India. Every year they conduct such type of trips in India.

This time Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), has provided them a free onward and return journey to the children and their escorting officials. A separate bogie on Konkan Kanya Express was arranged for them. 

These children told that Railway Women's Welfare and Social Service Association (KRWCSSA) entertained them during 10-hour long journey.

They are having their pleasant stay at Dona Paula. “Kar chale ham fida, Jan vatan sathiyo. Ab tumhare Havale, Ye wata Sathiyo, “Manisha Kumar Gupta (14) sang this patriotic song and said that this song means much in their life.

As they arrived on the Republic day in Goa, they said that this day was of great importance to them to remember the heroes who fought for independence.

“We salute them. They fought to give us freedom, but they are not there amongst us, we should remember them always. If we get cure from the cancer we will do something for our country, Gupta said.

Dr Jafri S H, Senior PRO of The Tata Memorial Centre said that the cancer is fully curable, if it is detected in early stage.
