Mangalore, Jan 24: Foundation stone laying ceremony to the building to be constructed by Ex-servicemen's Association was held on Friday January 26 morning.  The building is being constructed near St Aloysius College campus.

N Vinay Hegde, chairman, Nitte Educational Trust laid the foundations stone to the proposed building.  Vedamurthy Vasudeva Asranna of Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple, Kateel, Fr Eugene Lobo, principal, St Aloysius College, and Abdul Khader Dharami of Al-Badar Nadupalli Masjid, Kudroli jointly invoked God's blessings on the proposed construction.

MLA N Yogish Bhat, unveiled the foundation stone and tahsildar and former association president K Mathai presided over the function.

Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Y Abdullah Kunhi, chairman, Yenepoya Educational Trust, Blasius M D’Souza, MLC, Dr Prakash, joint director, Sainik Welfare Department, Raghunath Shet, managing director, S L Shet Diamond House, A Sadanand Shetty, managing director, Shree Devi Educational Trust, K C Nayak, managing director, Mahabaleshwara Promoters and Builders, Premachandra, corporator and Abdul Samad, chartered accountant were the chief guests on the occasion

K Mathai was later felicitated by Ex-servicemen's Association.  A review meeting of all ex-servicemen, their families and dependents too was held after the official ceremony.

The building has been acquired from the government after a struggle of 30 years. The building will be used for conducting various activities of the Association.

The association also plans to start multiple cooperative society in order to support ex-servicemen in their rehabilitation activities.
