Panaji, Jan 25: The Goa BJP leaders on Thursday, January 25 met the special central election observer Nilini Netto and submitted details with evidence on the alleged irregularities in voters’ card.

“We have cited at least 2,500 names to election observer which are twice registered,” leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar told reporters after the meeting. Netto, Kerala’s chief electoral officer, is down in Goa as a special election observer.

“I think they (election commission) have already identified 20,000 such names which figure twice in the voters’ list,” Parrikar added.

With less than 6 months left for the state legislative assembly elections, the BJP has been scanning voters list. BJP delegation had recently air dashed to Delhi to meet central election commission officials to bring to their notice glaring discrepancies in the electoral rolls and voters identity card process.

The BJP, in their Delhi meeting, had demanded that special election observer be appointed to look into these malpractices.

“We have produced documentary evidence that personal assistance of power minister is involved in this process. The personal security officer of minister for Power himself has registered his name twice in Margao constituency,” Parrikar alleged.

The BJP leader said that election observer gave a patience hearing to them. “We expect positive outcome following her visit,” Parrikar said.
