Bantwal, Jan 25: In a heart-rending tragedy, a 4-year-old boy was killed in a road accident near Okkettur school at Vittal here on Wednesday January 24 evening.
The deceased boy has been identified as Shameer (4), son of Abdul Razak, a resident of Okkettur. Abdul Razak is working abroad. On Wednesday evening Shameer was waiting for bus to go to his relatives' house along with his grandfather at Okkettur Junction when the Bantwal APMC jeep knocked him down.
As a result Shameer sustained critical injuries. The jeep driver himself admitted injured Shameer to the nearby hospital. But Shameer succumbed to injuries later. Having heard the news about the death of the boy, the locals damaged the jeep which was parked in the hospital premises. This caused a bit of tension in Vittal for sometime.
The Vittal police have registered a case in this regard.
