Aurangabad, Feb 23 (IANS): Qualifier Bhuvna Kalva and wildcard Rishika Sunkara made it to the second round of the $25,000 Aurangabad Open Women's ITF Championships here Monday.
In the opening round, Hyderabad tennis player Kalva scored a credible 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over Britain's Naomi Cavaday in a match that lasted three hours. Kalva came back from a 1-3 deficit in the decider to register the win.
Fed Cupper Rishika gave a tennis lesson to 16-year-old wildcard Mihika Yadav by winning 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 45 minutes to ensure a last 16 spot.
In another match, Ya Hsuan Lee of Chinese Taipei snuffed out a challenge from experienced Brit Emily Webley-Smithy, winning 7-6, 6-1 in two hours and five minutes.
