Los Angeles, Feb 23 (IANS): “The Grand Budapest Hotel” began its winning streak at the 87th Academy Awards here Sunday night with Milena Canonero walking away with the golden statuette in the Best Costume Design category, and Frances Hannon and Mark Coulier receiving the honour in Best Makeup and Hairstyling category.
“The Grand Budapest Hotel” , written and directed by Wes Anderson, is inspired by the writings of Stefan Zweig. It stars Ralph Fiennes as a concierge, who teams up with one of his employees (played by Tony Revolori) to prove his innocence after he is framed for murder.
Other cast members include F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Jude Law, Bill Murray and Edward Norton among others.
The other nominations in the Best Costume Design category were Mark Bridges for “Inherent Vice”, Colleen Atwood for “Into the Woods “, Anna B. Sheppard for “Maleficent”, Jacqueline Durran for “Mr. Turner” and Canonero again for “Hotel”,
The Best Makeup and Haistyling category had two other nominations - Bill Corso and Dennis Liddiard for “Foxcatcher” and Elizabeth Yianni-Georgiou and David White for “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
