Panaji, Jan 21: Amidst controversy over the Regional Plan, 2011 Goa legislative Assembly will meet for a four-day Winter Session beginning here from Monday, January 22.

Governor S C Jamir will address members of the Assembly on the opening day.

As many as 526 starred and unstarred questions have been received by the legislature department for the Session in which seven bills and an ordinance will be tabled.

Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar of the BJP has said the Opposition benches will leave no stone unturned to put the Congress-led Pratapsingh Rane Government on the mat in the House.

The Regional Plan, which had envisaged changes in rules to allow commercial and residential constructions in coastal areas, is likely to cast its shadow on the session.

Under mounting criticism and public outcry, the Rane government decided to denotify the plan. However, anti-plan activists are demanding that it should be denotified from retrospective effect (August 2006).

The BJP is opposing the introduction of an amendment to Panchayati Raj Act to appoint administrators in all the 180-odd panchayats in the state as the tenure of these bodies are getting over by the month-end.

Parrikar, told reporters yesterday, that the BJP would move an amendment seeking to allow sarpanches to act as administrators till fresh elections are held.
