Jubail, Feb 18: The grand finale of JF-Expertise Winter Cup 2015 was played between United Tech and Al-Falah teams resulting in United Tech bagging the Champions Trophy for the year 2015.
In spite of the spirited performance on their own home ground Al-Falah players could not chase a modest score of 64, thanks to some disciplined bowling from United Tech. With only 6 runs required off the last ball, the match was evenly poised but United Tech held their nerve to emerge as champions by 4 runs.
This thrilling match was witnessed by a huge cricket loving crowd along with their families and kids.
Final match details:
Al-Falah won the toss and elected to field first. United Tech scored 63 runs in 8 overs.Al-Falah scored 59 runs in 8 overs.
Raees of United Tech declared man of the match for taking 3 crucial wickets.
Prior to the finals, there were two exciting semi-final matches played:
First semi-final was played between the Al-Falah and Eastern Blue which resulted in Al-Falah winning the match. Irshan was declared man of the match for taking 4 sensational wickets.
The second semifinal was played between United Tech and Amaco. United Tech grabbed the match defeating the defending champions (Amaco). Rafeeq of United Tech declared man of the match for his match-winning knock of 43 runs not out.
Before the final played on January 30 on the Al-Falah flood light ground in Jubail, the tournament which began at the start of the calendar year, had seen a total of 16 knockout games. This noble cause of Jam'iyaatulFalah was overwhelmingly supported by a total of 24 teams from Jubail who participated in this annual knockout tournament.
Following the traditions and the Islamic way of life of remembering the Creator, the closing ceremony began with qirat-e-kalam-e-pak by young Hafiz Zayed Nasir Sheikh in presence of all the dignitaries from Jubail and Dammam. Among the present were K. S. Sheikh, Managing Director of Expertise Company, who partnered with JF in its objective of ‘Education is the Key to Success’ contributing major sponsorship for the event.

Fayaz Ahmed (President, JF-Jubail)delivered a welcome note highlighting the JF activities and its path of achievements since its inception. He thanked Almighty Allah along with all the sponsors for their generous support and JF executive members for their efforts.
This was followed by a quick and unique photo session involving all the JF executive members. In his Presidential address, he specifically mentioned that ‘Charity begins at home’ and appreciated the good work and sacrifice of all the JF executive members and their families for the success of this annual event. Farook as NRCC Ameerthanked the sponsors for their support and invited the youth to come forward for community service.
JF Jubail unit distributed mementos as token of appreciation to its major sponsors for this tourney recognizing their continuous support to the community services and helping realizing the goal of JF “Education is the key to success”.
In addition to Winners and Runners Trophy, following individuals were recognized for their consistent and exemplary performances during the tournament:
Nisar from Al-Falah as the Best batsman of the Tournament.
Raees from United Tech as the Best bowler of the Tournament.
Sajid from Al-Falahas the Best all-rounder of the Tournament.
Rafeeq of United Tech as the Man of the series.
There were complimentary gifts and appreciations given to those volunteers who unequivocally and selflessly supported during this entire tourney, including the 3 umpires Abbas, Asif and Mr. Anzar.
A total of 16 man of the match awards were declared and handed over to the selected players from the participating teams for their performance either by making highest score or grabbing highest wickets.
The program ended aptly with a vote of thanks and dua e-kaffarah by Nasir Ahmed Sheikh followed by distribution of dinner packs to the attendees.
