Panaji, Jan 18: A complaint has been filed against Lok Sabha member from south Goa Churchill Alemao that he had allegedly sworn a "false" affidavit before election authorities during the 2004 parliamentary elections.

Margao resident Conceicao Peisote has petitioned the Chief Electoral Officer, state police and vigilance department, saying the Congress MP had sworn a "false" affidavit before the election authorities.

The Election Commission said it would look into the complaint.

"We have received the complaint and we will examine it before deciding on it any further," Chief Electoral Officer Rajiv Yaduvanshi stated.

Peisote claimed that while the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee had sanctioned Rs 19 lac towards election expenses, the MP showed only Rs 10 lac as his poll expenditure in the statement and affidavit sworn before the notary, which was false.

He has attached various "receipts" received by GPCC which "Alemao himself has signed and accepted the money".

Peisote has also attached a bank statement operated by the Congress party for the purpose of Alemao's election expenses.

Alemao had recently announced that he will leave the party before the state assembly elections this year.

Peisote, a south Goa voter, also filed a complaint with Margao police under section 181 and 199 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for swearing a false affidavit.

"We have registered a non-cognizable complaint in this regard as the matter has to be fought in court by the complainant or with the competent authorities," a police official said.
