Colombian team win men's doubles in Brasil Open 2015


Sao Paulo, Feb 16 (IANS): Colombia's Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah won the men's doubles tennis title in the Brasil Open by defeating Italians Paolo Lorenzi and Argentine Diego Schwartzman 6-4, 6-2.

The Colombians won the final in a hour and four minutes Sunday after finishing runners-up in the previous edition, reported Xinhua.

Cabal and Farah reached the finals by beating Brazilians Marcelo Demoliner and Rogerio Dutra Silva, and their compatriots Nicolas Barrientos and Santiago Giraldo.

In the semifinal, Cabal and Farah defeated Brazilian Marcelo Melo and Austrian Julian Knowle, who were also favourites to win the doubles.

This is the third ATP title won by the Colombians, who will travel to Rio de Janeiro to play the Rio Open, which they won last year.
