Chief Justice D H Waghela inaugurates Moodbidri court complex, pitches for time-bound justice

Mangaluru, Feb 9: 'Judicial system should lay paramount importance on striving to provide timely and genuine justice to those who come seeking it,' opined Karnataka high court Chief Justice, D H Waghela. He added that delivery of justice stands out as the most important aspect of the judiciary, although improvement of facilities like infrastructure, and better facilities for lawyers, also are important.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly built well-equipped court complex that has come up near the veterinary hospital here at a cost of Rs 6.6 crore, at a function held by public works department in association with the district judiciary and Moodbidri Bar Association.

He hailed the newly inaugurated court complex as one of the best he has ever seen at the taluk level, either in Gujarat or Karnataka. He hailed Dakshina Kannada district for the giant strides it has made in the field of education. He noted that the district is home to a number of places of historical importance, high achievers, writers etc besides contributing top ranking lawyers. He appreciated the role of the state government in helping judiciary with its supportive initiatives.

High court judge and administrative judge for Dakshina Kannada district,Justice A N Venugopal Gowda, said that this court complex has become a model for others by getting the status of being the only court complex to come up in a revenue division in the entire state. He said that a proposal to upgrade this court is already under consideration.

Judge of the high court, Justice N K Patil, high court registrar, B A Patil, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, youth affairs, sports, and fisheries minister, Abhay Chandra Jain, founder president of Moodbidri Bar Association, Bahubali Prasad, PWD Mangaluru division executive engineer, A G Dharmaraj, and Karnataka State Bar Council president P P Hegde, were present.

On this occasion, contractor of the building, Sudhakar Shetty, was felicitated. Judge of chief district and sessions court, Uma M G, welcomed. P Sugandh Kumar hosted the programme. Moodbidri Bar Association president, K R Pandith, proposed vote of thanks.

Before the inaugural function of the court building, guard of honour was inspected by Chief Justice, D H Waghela.
