Kundapur, Feb 9: Byndoor-Kasargod train service, which has been awaited for a long time, will start from Monday February 9.
Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the train service from New Delhi at 6 pm. At the same time, a local flagging off will also take place at Byndoor where MPs B S Yeddyurappa, Shobha Karandlaje and Oscar Fernandes and legislators Gopala Poojary, Halady Srinivasa Shetty, Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Pratapchandra Shetty and Captain Ganesh Karnik are expected to attend.
This is the only train service announced in the past budget for the state. The train service connects three coastal districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod. The biggest beneficiaries are the devotees of Sri Mookambika temple in Kollur.
The actual service for passengers which will begin from Tuesday, February 10 has the following schedule:
Kasargod- 6.40 am
Byndoor- 11.50 am
Byndoor- 1.05 pm
Kasargod- 6.10 pm
The stops are: Bijoor, Senapura, Kundapur, Barkur, Udupi, Innanje, Padubidri, Nandikur, Mulki, Suratkal, Thokkur, Mangaluru Junction, Thokkottu, Ullal, Manjeshwar, Uppala and Kumble.
A local name for the train service is expected to be announced during the inauguration today.
