Swine flu fear in Udupi: Woman dead, three other cases reported

Udupi, Feb 7: The fear of H1N1 virus, commonly called the swine flu, is haunting the residents of Udupi district. Four cases have been recorded this week in Udupi, out of whom one patient passed away on Wednesday February 4.

A woman aged 48 years, hailing from Chitradurga district, was admitted at Manipal KMC Hospital a few days back with symptoms of swine flu. She breathed her last on Wednesday.

Two other H1N1 patients are under medication.

Out of the four cases, one patient was from Bengaluru. After blood test at Manipal hospital confirmed the virus, the patient was shifted back to Bengaluru. The three patients are taking medication and responding to the treatment.

Speaking to daijiworld, DHO of Udupi district Surendra Chimbalkar said, "We have no written records of death cases due to H1N1, but we are taking all preventive measures such as stocking up vaccines and medicines to control the swine flu virus in the district."
