Panaji, Feb 8 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project 'Swachh Bharat' campaign has inspired Goa Police to dive into the cleaning act.
Police will launch a 'Best Police Station of the Year' award in which cleanliness would be a major criteria, along with hardcore policing activities like investigation, crime prevention, quality of behaviour with the public etc., Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg told IANS Saturday on the sidelines of a prize distribution ceremony for policemen.
"Cleanliness of the police station is one of the important parameters," he said.
Modi has asked government officials to keep time aside to clean their surroundings, as part of the Swachh Bharat campaign.
Garg said the annual competition was aimed at instilling a sense of pride and purpose among police officials.
Twenty parameters have been worked out, including diverse elements ranging from hygiene, hardcore policing facets and how police station staffers interact with the public living within their jurisdiction.
