India's Haj quota fixed at 136,020 for this year


Riyadh, Feb 4, (IANS): The Haj quota for India for 2015 has been fixed at 136,020 pilgrims following the conclusion of the annual Haj agreement between India and Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed by Minister of State for External Affairs V.K Singh Saudi Minister for Haj Bandar Hajjar in Jeddah.

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Singh met Bandar Hajjar and discussed issues pertaining to arrangements for the Haj 2015, Arab News reported.

Of the pilgrim quota fixed for India, 100,020 pilgrims will come through Haj Committee of India (HCI) and the remaining 36,000 through private tour operators.

During the meeting with the minister, Singh expressed deep condolences on the demise of King Abdullah.
