Bengaluru, Feb 4: JD(S) legislators, Cheluvarayaswamy and Zameer Ahmed, are on collision course with the party's national president, H D Deve Gowda, and state president, H D Kumaraswamy. They have been vocal in criticizing party leaders, and have been dropping enough hints to suggest that they are fed up with the leadership style in the party.
In the recent past, there have been instances which indicate that these two MLAs, possibly along with two others, have been mentally distancing themselves from the party. They had participated in a luncheon organized at Savanadurga by a Congress leader, in the company of energy minister, D K Shivakumar and had held consultations with him. This has embarrassed JD(S) top leadership.
At the joint session of the legislature too, these two leaders smiled at the chief minister, and kept distance from JD(S) leadership. They remained away from the JD(S) parliamentary party meeting held on Monday evening. Speaking to media persons, Cheluvarayaswamy said they know whom Deve Gowda has been targetting in meetings angrily. 'Time will provide answers to questions,' he added.
About staying away from meeting, he said he has never been involved with discussions concerning party organization. 'We have been involved with strengthening party in our respective constituencies. Organizing the party at other levels is left to Deve Gowda. It is true we have certain differences with leadership. They can be sorted out through mutual discussions, but the party leadership has not shown enough interest to do this,' he stated.
Zameer Ahmed Khan asserted that participating in parties is not a crime. He said he continues to repose faith on party president, but that the party president has lost trust in him. 'There are no plans to leave my party in near future. I need not depend on politics for a living. If the situation so arises we have no other go but to choose a path we may decide at that juncture,' he added.
