for Daijiworld Media Network - Goa

Margao, Jan 7: Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane on Saturday said that no one could stop the development of the state and the country and hinted that four and six-lane express highway would be implemented.

Day by day, the number of vehicles is increasing in Goa. To provide good facility to the people and to save the time, four and six-lane express highway is needed. But some illiterate persons without studying the fact oppose the same, Rane said while addressing people at a Congress workers' convention at Shiroda, 24 km from here.

South Goa Member of Parliament Churchill Alemao, who hails from Congress party and is now trying to quit from the same, has been opposing the four and six-lane express highway. But without naming him, Rane categorically stated that he (Churchill) would never succeed in his efforts to stall the project.

Lambasting the erstwhile BJP govt. he said that they (BJP) fooled the youth of Goa by giving Rs 1500-salary job, under pre employment scheme. But the Congress government had given jobs to 2000 youth and more jobs were to be given.

Member of parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shantaram Naik, power minister Digamber Kamat, Vishnu Vagh, N Shivdas and Panchayat members were present.
