Doha: Tulu Koota environment campaign picks up momentum

Qatar, Jan 29: Tulu Koota Qatar in association with ICC and Ministry of Environment Qatar are taking the mission ahead on the Environmental Awareness Program in the State of Qatar.

Taking further the initiative with a widespread action and enthusiasm, the Tulu Koota relentlessly conducted many awareness sessions with varied community and reaching out to the people in their own spaces.

The sections of society already covered are labor camps of different types of industries, schools, hotels and related communities. Actions are in place to reach out to majority of expatriate & local communities in Qatar.








































The presenters use mixed media and try and put the message across to the audience in a touching way. The volunteers of Tulu Koota also offer technical and logistical support to make the event successful and meaningful. The president, Tulu Koota has laid persistent and continuous efforts to make sure that the campaign period is utilized effectively and the message reaches to the maximum number of people possible.

Most of the awareness sessions would end with planting of trees, thereby Tulu Koota has planted number of plants in various locations.

The anchors of the various programs were Kiran Anand, Navaneeth Shetty and Ravi Shetty.

Navin Hegde the nominated member engineer to the ICC in his presentation explained in detail about the connect between the life on earth and the environment. He defined the environment as simply a system that supports life. There are four main constituents of the environment that is air, water, earth and sky. Navin continued and explained the aspects and impacts on environment and the reasons for the depletion of natural resources and pollution to the air and water and contamination of earth. Navin ended by invoking everyone’s personal social responsibility to protect the earth and preserve the natural resources.

The chief campaigner of the 'Environmental Awareness Program' Chaitali Suhas Shetty in her presentation interacted with the audience to actually commit themselves to the causes of the environment. Chaitali started off with a heartening and mind boggling video clip called 'Neer'.

The message conveyed was that if we don’t act now future generations to come will have to pay for drinking water. A small step taken by each individual can do a lot for the betterment of the earth and the future generations to come.

In the second video clip she brought out the point that man is not allowing other members of the eco system to survive and causing enormous harm to nature and mother earth. The ultimate message carried in this video clip is that man’s actions as of today will severely effect the future generations in particular and the whole of mankind in general.

Continuing her interactive session Chaitali asked the participants how they will be part of this noble cause that the Tulu Koota has taken up. Some of the responses were that they are now determined not to waste electricity and water. If anyone is doing so they will request that person to not do that.

All the participants have pledged that they will reduce the usage of plastics in their daily life. Chaitali explained that plastic is causing havoc with the environment and it takes 1000 years for the soil to regain its strength from the poisonous plastic. She also remembered the Tsunami incident in the east coast of India some 12 years ago and shared her personal experiences.

The land surrounding Cuddalore at the Chennai Mahabalipuram belt was full of tons of plastic which the sea has thrown out of its belly during the Tsunami. One of the ATS members Narsayya explained how the people in the camp are wasting water and many times forget to close the tap. Another member Arun mentioned that in the camp people are spitting wherever they like and throw waste at their will which they promised to stop.

Planting of Saplings at ATS labor Camp, Al Sailiya on 14th January 2015.

In the Evening of Wednesday, January 14, the team lead by Ravi Shetty president of Tulu Koota headed towards the labor camp of ATS situated at Al Sailiya. The team of volunteers and the members of the camp assembled enthusiastically at the camp and made all the arrangements for the planting of saplings at the camp.

On the dawn of Jan 16, the Tulu Koota volunteers ventured towards yet another step towards their mission of environment awareness in the state of Qatar. On the lazy winter morning the volunteers came together for the execution of the awareness session and planting of trees in the Galfar Accommodation camp.

Taking the mission ahead relentlessly a program of sapling planting was organized at a premier school of Doha, Delhi Public school. To grace the occasion president Nainar, Board member Rocky Fernandez, principal, vice principal and manager facilities were present along with president of Tulu Koota and the team.

Mission going ahead with the neighbourhood at Layan Garden: Awareness campaign and Planting of Saplings

Initiatives always go a long way when taken at home and in the neighbourhood. With this thought awareness session was planned in the Layan Garden Club House. All the residents of Layan Garden were invited for the short presentation and planting of saplings.
Layan Garden has members from different nationalities and it was a good platform to understand everyone's perspectives towards each one's responsibility of preserving and conserving the environment. Along with Layan Garden members, children, Tulu Koota volunteers were also present for the program.

 Continued Endeavor in the Service of the Mother Earth, Awareness Campaign and Planting of Saplings at Al Sailiya ATS Camp, Jan 21

Tulu Koota volunteers lead by president Ravi Shetty descended at the ATS camp in their mess hall premises. Nearly 100 workers along with supervisors and engineers after just arriving from the day’s duty as it was a normal working day had assembled at the venue.

Tulu Koota in their mission to reach out the wide section of society, have taken another step to create awareness among members and staff of hotel industry. Inspite of finishing two such programmes on the day Tulu Koota volunteers were as enthusiastic as ever and gathered at the Maza Hotel on airport road.

 HBK, Staff & Labor Camp at Al Wakra, on Saturday Jan 24

Saturday morning after cleaning the beach the volunteers of Tulu Koota moved to the HBK Ezdan labor camp for an awareness session and planting of trees. The camp was already prepared for the session and the arrangement was ready for the presentations. The HBK officials were also present for the occasion. Niyaz Ahmed and Nil Bharthiya from HBK rendered great support towards the preparation of the event.
