Strbske Pleso (Slovakia), Jan 29 (IANS): Russian athletes dominated the fourth day of the 27th Winter Universiade here.
Russian biathletes won all the men's 12.5 km pursuit medals Wednesday. Yuri Shopin claimed the gold while Iaroslav Ivanov and Maksim Burtasov took silver and bronze, respectively, reports Xinhua.
"Today it's different. We changed the competition and for me the gunfire was clear. I am very happy because it's really good for my career," said Shopin.
Russian skiers also made the 10 km classic race into exhibition. Andrey Feller beat his countryman Artem Nikolaev with a difference of 0.8 seconds. The bronze went to Valeriy Gontar, who finished 10.1 seconds after the winner.
"The race was full of strong opponents and I sticked to the fastest ones which helped me to reach the best final time," said Feller.
Russia also won gold in women's biathlon and 5 km cross-country skiing.
