Mumbai, Jan 12: The movie that has factions of the society in an uproar with rage over hurting religious sentiments, seems to have become a rage on its own merits, across the globe. Nationally and internationally 'PK' has raked in far more than its own expectations.
The Bajrang Dal and the Vishava Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanded a ban on the movie for showcasing anti-Hindu sentiments. They are also known to have vandalised several theatres showing the movie with the most recent one being in Delhi. The movie, though continues to gain momentum with recently pocketing close to Rs18 crore in Pakistan.
Having raked in over 350 crore rupees in India alone, the film has become a favourite abroad as well, with collections close to 22crore Rupees in the US and Rs. 6 crores in Europe. With these sort of numbers PK seems to have begun the new year on a very high note having left many movies like Dhoom 3 to bite the dust.
With a winning cast of Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput and Saurabh Shukla telling the story of an Aliens visit to Earth, the movie seems to have captured many a heart. Aamir Khan seems to have made yet another point with being a perfectionist with regards to his body of work. His superlative performance has been exploited to bring to light many of the complex issues that grip our society on a daily basis. The headlong addressing of the many vices in our society with downright simple solutions seems to have resonated with movie goers everywhere.
