Ghana 29 players for U-20 championship


Accra, Jan 7 (IANS): Ghana's Under-20 men's football team chief coach Sellas Tetteh called up 29 players to begin preparations for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship (AYC) later this year.

Ghana have qualified for the AYC to be hosted by Senegal March 8-22. The Black Satellites will play a two-leg international friendly against Ivory Coast later in February, reports Xinhua.

The selected players will report to the national camp in Prampram Wednesday. Ghana are three-time African U-20 champions and will be aiming for a fourth title.

This year's competition will be the 20th edition of the football tournament. The semi-finalists from the eight-nation tournament will qualify to the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Squad: Mutawakilu Seidu, Sai Michael, Odam Mustapha, Kofi Mensah, Kwame Baah, Owusu Bempah, Christopher Bonney, Emmanuel Asante, Asmah Patrick, Joseph Adjei, Joe Aidoo, Latif Abubarkar, Stephen Anokye Badu, and Kofi Yeboah. Yaw Yeboah, Attobrah Asiedu, Osman Sackey, Prosper Kassim, Michael Otoo, Noah Martey, Paul Asare, Emmanuel Antwi, Isaac Nyarko, Isaac Quansah, Samuel Afful, Benjamin Tetteh, Samuel Tetteh, Abbas Issah, and Henry Medarious.
