Sanguem, Dec 13: The search operation to retrieve bodies from a mine mishap site is continuing, officials here said.
At least six miners were killed in a landslide at an opencast iron ore mine in Sanguem block on December 9.
One body was recovered on the day of the accident itself.
Army personnel, who have been called in for the rescue operation, said they have been able to retrieve two more bodies, and work is going on to remove the debris.
"Total, there are two bodies that have been recovered till now, and both are fatal cases. Three more are left. Work is going on and the area is filled with debris here right now. The mission is a difficult one because the area has a lot of flushes, lots of water is here. So, we do not know where the workers are gone and where the bodies have gone. So, the operation is continuing," said Captain Nautiyal, an army officer.
Mine officials said seven pumps have been installed to flush the water out from the area.
The accident occurred when a portion of a hill the miners were excavating at the private-run Tollem mines fell on them.
