Poets’ Forum expresses condolence over Madhvi’s death

Panaji, Dec 26: Goan Poets’ Forum expressed condolence over the death of recent Sahitya Akademi award recipient Madhvi Sardesai.

The chairman of the forum and noted poet Yusuf A Sheikh said that it was extremely painful experience for him to learn about passing away of Madhvi who endeared herself to all sections of Konkani luminaries by her loving nature and outstanding literary work. “We have lost an ever smiling face of Konkani language and Konkani literary movement”, he said.

Yusuf Sheikh also appealed to young writers to emulate her example of keeping simple and making rich contribution to writings in Konkani language. Poet Anil Kamat Shankhwalker reminded of her contribution to Konkani poetry during her childhood and said that Madhvi had embraced wider spectrum and was in tune with the infinite. Poet Ashok Chodankar, Vishwanath V Sawant and senior journalist Clerance Furtado also expressed sentiments to condole the death of the writer.
