Government has to make Goa drug free: Deputy CM

Panaji, Dec 19 (IANS): The government has to do better to ensure that drugs are not easily available in Goa and a lot more is to be done to make the state drug free, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza said Friday.

"According to the CM (chief minister), lots of tourists come (to Goa) for drugs. Now that also means that drugs are available. You have to stop the availability of drugs," D'Souza said on the sidelines of a function here.

The deputy chief minister rued that the Goa government was not doing enough to eliminate the narcotics menace from the state.

"Lots of drugs are being seized. There are more raids than any time before. That is not enough, I feel. If you want to have a drug-free state, then we have to do a lot more," D'Souza told the media.

Goa attracts three million tourists every year.
