Margao, Nov 29: High drama was witnessed by the audience at Gomant Vidya Niketan Auditorium on Tuesday evening as an anonymous caller threatened tiatr director Menino de Bandar that MP Churchill Alemao would be shot dead if he was invited as chief guest at the show.
Security for Alemao
No sooner did he (Menino de Bandar ) receive the call, he lodged a complaint at the Colva Police station seeking security to Alemao at the show. Colva Police has registered on the basis of the complaint an offence under Section 507 of the Indian Penal code.
Before Alemao reached the theatre, police took all security measures. Their presence was felt inside and outside the auditorium. When Alemao was on the dais to address the audience he narrated the whole story and people got alerted.
At the same time, further drama was added by a man who rose from his seat and started moving towards the dais "Excuse me Churchill" but before he could do anything the security men caught him and took to police station.
Alemao said that he did not care for such threats, and that any persons who issue such threats should come before him and do so. Noted Konkani stage artiste Rose Ferns also recieved similar calls, giving threats to Alemao's life.
Police are investigating the case.
