Udupi: Unemployment drives youth to suicide at Kukkikatte

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (UM)

Udupi, Dec 11: A youth committed suicide by jumping intot a well near his house at Indiranagar, Kukkikatte here on the night of Wednesday December 10. The incident came to light on Thursday December 11.

The deceased has been identified as Dheeraj (28), son of Suresh Acharya, a resident of Indiranagar, Kukkikatte.

It is said that Dheeraj had been working as a sales manager for Zycozil company in another place. About 15 days back, he became unemployed and was finding it difficult to get a new job. He stayed at home and went into depression over not being employed, stated the complaint filed by his father.

On Wednesday night, he went out of the house after dinner. His family members assumed that he went to his grandmother's house which is close by, as he would often go there at night. Hence, even when he did not return home the next morning, no search was conducted.

The incident came to light when Dheeraj's uncle Krishna went to the nearby well to fetch water. When he looked down into the well, he saw a body. He immediately called out to Suresh, who recognized the body as that of his son.

The police were then informed and Dheeraj's body was retrieved from the well.

It is learnt that Dheeraj left behind a death note in which he said that he was taking the extreme step as he was unable to find a job.

Udupi police have registered a case.

With due respect to the soul of Deepak and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of the family.

Here I personally do not think it was only unemployment issue. Might be, being a Sales Manager and he is lost his position & job, might have felt insulted and that has lead him to go for depression.

But suicide is not the solution. If he had approached the right counselor, they could have boosted his morale and things could have been different.

Those who face failures and overcome it, will definitely in life will be successful. A winner never leaves the race and those who leave the race, never wins.

    RIP Deepak.

what unemployment....we should try again and again we will get the job.even aged persons(above40) also are getting jobs in India or abroad. First of all we should have patience.....he stayed only 15 days at home so what he should have tried for a job he would have got an opportunity......many people are jobless and some people who stay at home 1 yr 2 yr without job but they try, they will not loose confidence finally they get it...so Patience and confidence is a must...this useless fellow has taken an extreme step which is unacceptable........ may be for other reason??!!......case to be investigated

Sadly many have lost trust in God that He is a providing God even in the midst of storms in life. Its a belief in many that money will provide all their needs which is a great folly. When this need is not met it leads them to give up on life and take such extreme steps. The devil is on the prowl and waiting for someone to devour and sadly some become victims to his lies. God has promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.We need to hold on to God even in the worst circumstances in life.

Rain and babies are two very different things. One has a soul very carefully created by God. Its a misconception that we are over populated. It is people's greed that the world is the state it is in.

now ask these political leaders and big speakers to do something and create job opportunities for youth. Instead of speaking so much for cows, masjids and temples. we dont want such youngsters to die because of unemployment.

i feel sorry for you dheeraj.

Dheeraj, May your soul rest in peace. You are a victim of our country's circumstances. Unemployment is sky-rocketing in our country. Employment generated by our successive govts could not keep pace with growth in population.
Our people are not controlling population and they say children are gift of God, yes indeed ! Rain also is gift of God, but when it rains more, we wear raincoats. Unless and until something is done on population front, no better future for our children can be expected.

    Santan,
    I don't agree with you.
There are so many who don't even have proper food to eat for three times, don't they live?.I am sure that he would have had at least better life than many other in India! And as stated by daiji ,it was just 15 days that he was unemployed! He could have searched job isn't it?
    Rita,
    I agree with you views.
    ........

However let us pray for his family and also for his soul.

what a tragedy!young man lost his Job and out of Depression committed suicide.Poor fellow at this Age ,instead of head in sand to hide could have made some effort to study like in Internet such type till he gets a Job.Nowadays there are felicities to do that.It is hard to loose a Job,stay without income, but can put or start a small beedishop with some chocolates .That is a type of time pass.and also with time it can florieren.but when doesnt function, you say you tried it.He must have thought instead of depending on others for help,I will end here is just wrong decision.Heartfelt sympathy to the parents.
