Rio de Janeiro, Dec 9 (IANS): Brazilian giants Palmeiras have sacked coach Dorival Junior just a day after the club avoided relegation to the Serie B.
The Sao Paulo outfit also announced the departure of football manager Omar Feitosa and football director Jose Carlos Brunoro Monday, reports Xinhua.
"There was a meeting involving the board Monday night and it was decided that they would not continue in their respective roles," Palmeiras said in a statement.
Dorival, who represented Palmeiras as a player from 1989 to 1992, took over from Argentine Ricardo Gareca in September.
He guided the club to six wins, five draws and nine losses.
Palmeiras avoided the drop when they drew 1-1 with Atletico Paranense in the final match of the season Sunday and Santos beat Vitoria 1-0.
The eight-time Brazilian top-flight champions were relegated for only the second time in their history in 2012.
