Doha, Dec 9: In the Divison II of 26th CDC Cricket Tournament 2014 finals, QAPCO managed to defeat AL SHAQAB REAL ESTATE by 4 wickets in a closely fought encounter.
The QAPCO Team is one of the well organized and disciplined team participating in the Qatar Veterans’ Cricket League tournaments regularly since last 20 years. They have won many tournaments under the able and wise leadership of Yousef Ali A. Karim Al Hammadi the Chairman of QAPCO Sports. The QVCL appreciated Yousef Ali A. Karim Al Hammadi’s efforts and continued support and guidance to the QAPCO team which resulted in such victories.
At the prize distribution ceremony the Chief Guest was Sanjiv Jain, Business Development Manager and the Guest of Honor was Kadar of CDC .
Mansoor Khan specially flew in from Dubai to witness the finals.
Winning the toss QAPCO put in AL SHAQAB to bat and restricted them to 132 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Atiq was the top scorer with 24 runs including 2 sixes and 1 boundary. Amjad Khan was run out for 19 runs with 2 sixes and 1 boundary. Momi 18 runs not out with 1 six and 1 boundary, Shahabaz 18 runs with 2 sixes and Sabir Jr. 15 runs contributed to the total.
Ameer and Naveed took 2 wickets each while Showkat, Ahmed, Gaffar, Shakeel and Asif took a wicket each.
In reply QAPCO were cruising to victory having scored 69 runs in the first 10 overs but good bowling by Mashooq claiming 3 quick wickets saw QAPCO struggling and needed 25 runs of the last 3 overs. Salim Kaiser bowling the 18th over was hammered by Gulshan for 14 runs including a six and a boundary leaving only 11 runs of the last 2 overs. Captain Khalid along with Gulshan went on to score the required 133 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 19.4 overs. Top scorer was Ameer 20 runs with 2 sixes and 1 boundary, Gaffar 19 runs with 3 boundaries, Gulshan not out for 18 runs with 1 six and a boundary. Khalid Bhatti 14 runs not out, Naveed was run out for 14 runs.
Mashooq took 2 wickets while Abdul Jabbar and Saleem Kaiser took a wicket each.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.
The Prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.
