Paris, Dec 7 (IANS): Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) came from behind to beat Nantes 2-1 to overtake Marseille's at the top of the French League ahead of the latters' home game against Metz.
It was Alejandro Bedoya who put the visitors Nantes ahead in the eighth minute Saturday when the American sent a fierce shot from 25 meters out into the top right-hand corner of Salvatore Sirigu's goal, reports Xinhua.
Four minutes past the half-hour mark, Ibrahimovic, coming off the bench with a long-troubled heel injury, received a low cross from Brazilian winger Lucas Moura and sent the ball home at the near post to equalise.
Just four minutes into the second half, the Swedish star striker scored again to complete the brace as Lucas was brought down on the edge of the area and Ibra stepped up for the free-kick and smashed it into the top left corner.
It was the tenth victory of the season in the French first division league for PSG, as well as the 1,000th in all competitions in the club's history.
Paris, who head to Nou Camp Wednesday for the final group match in Champions League, now lead the Ligue 1 rankings with two more points than Marseille ahead of the rest of the weekend's games.
Elsewhere in Saturday's league play, Ricky van Wolfswinkel earned Saint-Etienne a 1-0 victory over Bastia to help his side move up to third on 32 points, five points behind PSG.
Bordeaux are a further point in fourth with a 3-2 win over Lorient after Cheick Diabate scored twice, while Caen stayed level on points with bottom-placed Bastia following a 2-3 home loss to Nice and Montpellier prevailed 4-0 at Rennes.
