Indian eves finish 14th at world squash championship

Niagara Falls (Canada), Dec 7 (IANS): India finished 14th in the WSF world women's team squash championship which concluded at the Niagara-on-the-Lake venue.

Pitted against Mexico Saturday for the 13-14th place contest, India lost 0-2 with both Sachika Ingale and Joshna Chinappa unable to do much.

After the fifth place finish in the previous edition in Nimes, France, it has been a big fall this time. Not entirely unexpected considering the team is in the building stage, with two newcomers Sachika Ingale and Harshit Kaur Jawanda getting tested in the senior ranks for the first time.

The results: 13th place play-off - Mexico beat India 2-0: Karla Urrutia bt Sachika Ingale 11-8, 11-5, 4-11, 11-7 (27mins); Samantha Teran bt Joshana Chinappa 11-9, 11-7, 6-11, 11-9 (48mins).
