Mumbai, Dec 6 (PTI): The Maharashtra government Friday said it has filed a special leave petition before the Supreme Court for a stay on the Bombay high court order in the Maratha reservations matter.
The high court had last month stayed the implementation of the decision of the erstwhile Congress-NCP government to provide reservations to the Maratha community in government jobs and educational institutions.
Senior state BJP leader and education minister Vinod Tawde tweeted Friday evening that the state had filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court for a stay on the HC order.
“Hope the hon. SC will vacate the interim stay given by hon. high court and give relief to crores of economically and educationally backward Maratha community,” he said.
