Cook suspended for a match for slow over-rate

Colombo, 4 Dec (IANS): England captain Alastair Cook was Thursday suspended for a One-day International (ODI) and fined 20 per cent of his match fee for maintaining slow over-rate during England’s five-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in the third limited-overs match.

The rest of the English team were also fined 10 per cent of their Wednesday's match fees.

The ban was triggered because it was Cook's second slow over rate offence within 12 months and he will have to sit out Sunday's fourth ODI in the seven-match series.

In Cook's absence, Eoin Morgan will captain England, who trail 1-2 after three matches.
