Mysuru: Girl thrashes molester as public watch; gets rewarded by police chief

Mysuru, Dec 3 (DHNS): In an incident similar to the two sisters in Rohtak thrashing their tormentors in a moving bus, a girl in Mysuru thrashed her molester and handed him over to the police on Monday.

Chitra, a resident in Malleswaram Bengaluru, was in Mysuru to meet her parents. She was allegedly sexually harassed by the accused identified as Mohamed Samir, when she was returning home after meeting her friends.

The accused along with another person followed the girl for sometime. Samir first stalked Chitra near an ATM in Dodda Gadiyara. She responded to her stalker with a tight slap across his face, making Samir to retreat.

But Samir reportedly didn’t stop there. He confronted Chitra again and physically harassed her for slapping him. This agitated her more, making her pick up an iron rod from the road and thrash him, injuring him in his head and back.

As Chitra started the fight back Samir, his unidentified friend fled the scene.
In the scuffle, Chitra also sustained some minor injuries.

While Chitra was single-handedly fighting the molester, the other people stood at the spot as mute spectators. However, one person from the crowd informed the police, who arrived at the spot and took the accused into the custody.

The accused has been booked for sexual harassment under Section 354 (a) (sexual orientation) of the Indian Penal Code and produced in the court.

City Police Commissioner MA Saleem appreciating her bravery, awarded her a certificate of appreciation and a cash reward of Rs 1000.

Indian men molest women. Indian men have some kind mental problem Thats why they harass men, Only solution to this problem is to empower women. Women needs to empowered so that they can handle these hooligans who harass them Women should make groups with freinds and give back to men who harass them. And social service minded people also must help them.

ya, like rohtak girls who falsely accused two boys of molestation when the issue is dispute between seats.

4 womens travelling in the bus who were present during this incident in the bus gave account to police that it was not molestation and just dispute between seats and the girls were the ones manhandling boys.

will the police take action against the girls for manhandling?no.

even the haryana govt has cancelled cash prize to these girls after they came to know the truth.

thats why law should be gender neutral like western countries

WELL DONE....I applaud this stand taken by the brave girl. Come on girls...fight it out with these so called molestors. You are not a target for emotional abuse, you were created by God to be a partner to man and not a SLAVE. You have your dignity and self-worth.

Girls should be trained to tackle such psychos, from their childhood itself. So that, no one dare to misbehave with girls.

"Beat the men or boys and get REWARDED " , this is the ' buzzword' now a days on media. Here Boy and girl both hit each other , so why not girls also arrested ?. This kind of loopholes will open pandora boxes of female goons on the society spurging more criminal activities .

Its win win from both sides 1. A woman criminal cannot arrested at night ( because law says so ) 2. Even if a innocent man defends against a woman , he can be arrested for outraging modesty. third scenario 3 . If boys gets beaten , media will praise her , she will get medal and cash reward also.

Looks like men now have to travel with 24*7 vigilance camera , otherwise any average looking girl will cry ' stalking ' and file a complaint.

    Roshan,

I was wondering why the girl over here has to get rewarded? What is the logic behind it?

Nowadays i read the terms sexual assault and molestation regularly but it is not clear what defines as such.

Just imagine even if you stare at a girl, it can be termed as harassment. Just bumping into them on a footpath would be termed as molestation.

Like you mentioned we need to have a video recorder at all times, just to protect ourself just like having a dash cam when driving.

Rohtak sisters thrashed that person not for molestation but for a dispute over the bus seat. The girls themselves have claimed that the fight was over a bus seat. See yesterday's latest news. This mysuru girl may have thrashed her molester but will the police take responsibility if that molester kills the girl as revenge? Police must think and act responsibly before rewarding instead of acting like tenth standard just pass students.

I think Bihar is much more safer to women than the present day Karnataka especially Bangalore as my friends claim. We are watching / reading everyday more & more crimes on Women. GOD SAVE WOMEN IN KARNATAKA / INDIA. No Governments are talking about this issue seriously, why? Why serious steps have not been taken? Without tackling this issue effectively there is less chances of investments / Tourism. We had a good hope on Modi but no action on this issue, kindly make your home clean & structured before inviting foreigners.

Well done Chitra, Hats off to you. Those who molest single women / children are impotent. As long as there is no harsh treatment for this crime from the state Govt. these types incidents growing day by day. I think the Home Minister is just unfit for the Post. Congress Govt. should immediately change the minister with a good able guy in due respect to women. Crimes on women are increasing day by day in Karnataka which is very bad. Kindly punish rape / molesters with death as like in Gulf Countries. This is need of the hour.

Hallo, chitra, you brave Girl, you did the right Thing.wothout thinking of being a offer ,you showed him where is here the saying.A good lesson to all.The "brave" men stood far and watched it.what a shame.instead of helping a Girl in her acute condition ,had no guts come to help. They are ready to attach a Girl but not save.Police have rewarded, but they could have also made other men ask why they didnt help.It is not only Police Job to help Girls but public also would they also stand there and watch if their own sister or wife, mother was assaulted?A big Salute to chitra and making a Forward step in fighting against assaulters.
